Slaughter of the Mountain Man is the true story of that hunt. It's a gripping tale of violence, adventure, and the indomitable spirit of the American West.
The Early Years
Bill Miner was born in 1847 in Kentucky. He grew up in a poor family, and he started robbing trains at a young age. In 1878, he was arrested for robbing a train in Missouri, and he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Miner served 10 years of his sentence before he was released on parole. He returned to his life of crime, and he soon became one of the most wanted men in the West.
The Reign of Terror
In the 1890s, Miner's reign of terror reached its peak. He robbed trains and stagecoaches all over the Rocky Mountains, and he killed anyone who got in his way.
In 1896, Miner robbed a train in Montana, and he killed two of the passengers. The following year, he robbed a stagecoach in Wyoming, and he killed the driver.
Miner's crimes made him a target for lawmen all over the West. In 1899, a posse of lawmen finally tracked him down in Colorado. Miner was wounded in a shootout with the lawmen, and he was captured.
The Trial and Execution
Miner was tried and convicted of murder, and he was sentenced to death. He was hanged in 1901 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Miner's death marked the end of an era. He was one of the last of the Old West bandits, and his death symbolized the passing of the frontier.
Slaughter of the Mountain Man
Slaughter of the Mountain Man is the definitive account of Bill Miner's life and crimes. It's a gripping tale of violence, adventure, and the indomitable spirit of the American West.
