The State of Nature

In the First Treatise, Locke argues that all individuals are born into a state of nature. In this state, all individuals are equal and free. They have the natural right to do whatever they want, as long as they do not harm others. However, the state of nature is also a state of war, as individuals are constantly competing for resources and power.

The Social Contract

In Free Download to escape the state of nature, Locke argues that individuals must enter into a social contract. This contract creates a government that is responsible for protecting the rights of its citizens. The government is not all-powerful, however. It is only legitimate if it protects the rights of its citizens.

The Separation of Powers

Locke also argues that the government should be divided into three branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judicial. This separation of powers prevents any one branch from becoming too powerful.

The Right to Revolution

Locke also argues that the people have the right to revolt against a government that is not protecting their rights. This right to revolution is a last resort, but it is necessary to ensure that the government remains accountable to the people.
